| CELIA CRUZ Celia cruz was a cuban salsa Singer who developed career in Cuba and the United States.She was born in LA HABANA on October 21 of 1925 and died in FORT LEE, NEW JERSEY July 16, 2003.Celia Cruz shared his chilhodd with his three brothers and eleven cousins included to the little ones,and began to sing.
She got married on July 24, 1962 with Peter Knight (who was the first trumpeter of the SONORA MATANCERA for many years), the celia already had United States citizenship. Peter and celia had no children.
In 1965 she retired from La Sonora matancera embodied leaving 184 subjects and many recordings singing live on Radio Progreso.
She was nominated for 13 Grammy Awards and won two.Similarly was nominated for six Grammy Awards which won three. She received two honorary doctorates: from Yale UNIVERSITY in 1989 and the UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA in 1992.
In November 2002 she was operated on for a brain tumor.After several relapses died on July 16, 2003 victim of brain cancer at his name in NEW JERSEY with her faithful husband Peter Knight and other members on his family.
